Before joining CFRL, what was your biggest struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?
Before joining CFRL, my biggest struggle was definitely finding something that I liked doing and sticking with it. I get bored easily when it comes to working out, and I would always end up joining gyms and never going because I didn’t know what to do once I got there, and I couldn't find something I enjoyed doing or that held my interest for more than a month.
What was it about CFRL that made you join?
I got married in September of 2017 and had stopped working out for about six months leading up to our wedding. Afterwards, I was looking for something to get me back into a routine and saw an ad for CFRL. The location was super convenient for me, so I filled out their online form and arranged to go check it out. Charly and Dave were the first people I met, and they were both so friendly and welcoming that it was really a no-brainier for me. I joined the first day I went in. CrossFit gyms can be intimidating, whether you’re brand new to CrossFit or it’s your first time at a new box, but CFRL made me feel comfortable from the second I walked in the door.
What made you stay with us? What do you enjoy the most about CFRL?
The community is definitely one of the best things about CFRL, and of course the workouts! I have a lot of anxiety, and I look forward to the hour (sometimes two) a day I spend here because it’s the only time of the day where my head is completely clear and I am able to focus on myself and forget about any worries I may have. There’s also no way to become bored because every day is different and ALWAYS challenging. I look forward to going to class each day because I love the feeling of accomplishment I get after finishing a WOD that I never thought I’d get through, and the friendly competition keeps me motivated and gives me the feeling I’ve been missing since I stopped playing sports. I also really love that I don’t have to think about what to do once I get to the gym. All I have to do is show up for class and I know I’ll get a good workout in.
Were there any specific goals that you reached that you are particularly proud of? How did it make you feel?
Being chosen to be Athlete of the Month is something I feel really proud of! It was such a nice surprise and I was SO excited about it! I also ran my first Spartan Race in August and I had way more fun than I thought I would that day! My goals now are to continue to build strength and keep seeing what my body is capable of doing. And muscle-ups…
What would you tell someone interested in joining CFRL?
The first step is always the hardest, but once you take it, you will be so happy that you did! It’s a great place to not only get in an awesomely tough workout, but to do so in an environment that makes you feel like you're just hanging out with your friends. If you enjoy doing something, you're much more likely to stick to it, and CFRL actually makes you ENJOY working out!

I just want to say thank you to Charly, Dave, the coaches, the members, and everyone else that makes CFRL what it is. I love working out again and I’m so thankful to have found this gym.
