Before joining CFRL what was your biggest struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?

Before I found CFRL the only exercise I was doing was trail running. I love to run but would suffer from shin splints all the time and would give up every couple of months before starting over. I was also part of a gym but didn't know how to use any of the equipment and felt stupid asking somebody to show me so I never actually went. I eventually got into MMA/ kickboxing and after 3 months found myself trying out CrossFit.

How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before joining CFRL?

I struggled with shin splints a lot which was very discouraging and would cause me to give up a lot. I didn't have any real direction when it came to exercising and only ran alone so there was no competition to drive me to do better or to even do it at all.

How did our program help you? How is Life different for you now?

When I joined CFRL I joined a community that all had the same goal: to do better. The coaches do a fantastic job of differentiating each workout to everybody's needs so there is never a doubt that you will do your best! Now I have a workout program that is different each day, coaches who show me how to do each lift/movement better, a very friendly community that is always encouraging each other, and most importantly for me I have a direction to go in. I know what I want to work on and exactly how to accomplish it.

Were there any specific goals that you reached that you are particularly proud of? How did it make you feel?

Being new to CrossFit I didn't have any particular goals when I first started. As I got more into the program I became excited about it all so I started to make a list of all of the movements I wanted to achieve. Sometimes I  try to grab a few extra minutes after class to work on them in addition to the training we have in class. I've managed to cross some of those goals off of my list but I think my proudest moment was when I was able to get a chest to bar pull-up right before it was in a WOD for the CrossFit Open! I was very excited and it only made me want to work even harder on everything else!

What would you tell someone interested in joining CFRL?

Just do it!!! You will be thanking yourself in less than a month! CrossFit is for everybody and my only regret is that I didn't start it sooner.

Is there anything personal you would like to add?

CFRL is a very special place. Everybody is so nice and encouraging and the coaches are great at showing you how to do each workout to the best of your abilities. Coming to CFRL is the best part of my day and I'm sure it will be yours too if you just give it a try.
